Can You Vape During A Heatwave?
With a lengthy summer heatwave bringing unprecedented hot days with them, many people who are out and about with their vape supplies may need to take a few extra precautions than they otherwise would.
This does not mean you can’t or shouldn’t, especially for people who use their vape pens as an aid to stop smoking, but it does mean that you need to keep a few extra considerations in mind when you use them.
The first is dehydration. As with smoking, the heat of the vapour and the pen itself can leave you with a dry mouth, so it is important to keep a bottle of water with you as you travel around and keep yourself refreshed after you use a vaping device.
In general, if you are walking around and vaping, try to do so in the early morning and late in the evening, when the sun is not shining quite as harshly.
As well as this, try to keep your vape in a safe, cool dry place.
This is important for several reasons; the first is that many vape devices are made of metal, which can get very hot during warm days and can potentially lead to burns to your fingers and palms if they are allowed to get too warm.
The biggest concern, however, is leaving a vape device in a car out of the shade or exposed to direct sunlight, for the same reasons why you should avoid leaving your digital camera, laptop or phone in direct sunlight as well.
The extreme heat can cause the lithium in the battery packs to react, which can cause the battery to overheat and fail. Sometimes this means it simply will not work, but in other, rare cases, the battery can potentially catch fire or even explode.
Keeping a device out of direct sunlight will help a lot to avoid this, as will staying in the shade and avoiding the hottest points of the day.
