Bournemouth Students Show Rising Popularity Of Vaping

Vaping has become incredibly fashionable among young people, as more youngsters are using this as a tool to ditch their cigarettes.

This has been shown with a recent poll on Overhead, which is a Facebook community page for students at Bournemouth University.

BUzz News, run by the uni’s students and graduates, posted the survey, which found that more than nine in ten of participants who smoked disposable vapes only started in the last two years.

One student at the uni told the publication why she moved from smoking cigarettes to vaping.

Katalina Martin said: “I spotted a grape flavour that I liked the look of and I just used that for a while and then when I went back to try smoking it just didn’t taste the same anymore.”

It appears the flavours of vape products are more enticing to young people than the overriding taste of tobacco.

That is why the likes of IVG Bar’s Butter Cookie, Calypso’s Pineapple Peach lemonade, Elux Legend’s Mini Banana Pudding and Cotton Candy, Elf Bar’s Cola, and Fizzy Juice’s Watermelon Guava are some of the most popular vaping products.

Once Katalina got a liking for these flavours, she said: “I could smell the smell of cigarettes on people and I was more conscious that I might smell of it.”

Smoking no longer had the appeal it once had, and vaping took over as a way to keep her off cigarettes.

That’s why the NHS recommends using e-cigarettes as an effective tool to quit smoking, as they do not produce tar or carbon monoxide, making them considerably safer than smoking tobacco.
